Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam brings the Bakersfield sound back to Southern California on Saturday, December 5, with Texas country artist Wynn Williams opening the night at the Terrace Theater in downtown Long Beach.

Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums, won multiple GRAMMY® Awards, and put 14 singles in the Billboard country Top 10. He has also spent four decades making the case that country music has a California history worth taking seriously, from the honky-tonks of Bakersfield to the SiriusXM channel he launched to document that sound. This is a hometown-region show for an artist who built his career an hour up the freeway.

What you'll hear

A Yoakam set pulls from a catalog most of the room already knows by heart. “Guitars, Cadillacs,” “Fast as You,” “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere” and “Little Sister” sit alongside newer material from Brighter Days, his 2024 record and his first album of new songs in nine years. Expect a full band, the hat, and a voice that still sounds the way it does on the records.

Opening the night: Wynn Williams

Williams is a Texas A&M graduate and former collegiate steer wrestler who left the rodeo circuit for country music in 2016. His neotraditional sound draws on George Strait and '90s Texas country, and he's been named the finale performer for the 2026 Texas Country Music Awards at Billy Bob's Texas. Getting here

The Terrace Theater seats 3,052 across orchestra, loge and balcony, with a three-story glass lobby looking out over the downtown waterfront. Pine Avenue, Shoreline Village and The Pike are all a short walk away if you want dinner before the show. Closer than a drive into LA, easier than a drive to Anaheim.
