Driving Miss Daisy
Driving Miss Daisy, Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, comes to the Beverly O'Neill Theater at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center from Wednesday, October 20, through Sunday, November 7, 2027, presented by International City Theatre.
In the Deep South, just before the civil rights movement takes hold, a wealthy, sharp-tongued Jewish widow of 72 is assigned an African American chauffeur she never asked for. He's unimpressed by her patronizing tone and what he sees as her hidden prejudice, but over 25 years the two slowly learn each other's truths and build an unlikely friendship.
Written by Alfred Uhry, who won the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for this play and the Academy Award for its 1989 film adaptation, which was named Best Picture. Directed by Luke Yankee.
"Gives off a warm glow of humane affirmation." Variety
